I am currently watching Castle, the American police procedural about the amazing Detective Kate Beckett and Castle, the author who follows her around to write about her. I have reached Series 2 Episode 11, entitled ‘The Fifth Bullet’, and it involved an interesting quote, which is as follows:
“You know what’? If we got a dog, I could get him little saddlebags then he could carry your books to school and you wouIdn’t have to worry about scoliosis.” [00:07:26-00:07:30]
I was at the time WhatsApping my flatmate Beanie over the great improvement in Beckett’s hair and dropped my phone when I heard that line. Because Castle’s researchers cannot be as thorough as Castle itself – BAD POSTURE AND HEAVY BAGS DO NOT CAUSE SCOLIOSIS. They don’t aid you in standing up straight but please don’t spread the myth that this causes scoliosis! Most of the causes are idiopathic, so we don’t actually know, but heavy bags have not been proven to have much of an effect – otherwise the information would be out there!
Apart from that, watch Castle, it’s really good.
